Default new sizing problem

In years of reloading this has never have had this problem.
I bought some .222 brass -don't know how many times fired. I know I get
a bad mark for that.
The problem is about every 6th to 8th case the neck is being pulled off.
Any ideas?

Sounds like you have been handloading for a while, so that leaves out lack of case mouth cleanliness and lubrication. Are your dies dirty (expander button)? Also sounds like the brass is just shot out. Good luck.

The more I look into it I belive your rright about the cases being shot out.
Back in the late 70's Iloaded .222 all the time with case's that at one point
were 5x fired and never had this problem. Thank you for the input

Had that happen to a batch of once fired(bought the brass new) WW in 338 WM. I annealed the cases and no problems after that. Its normally due to very brittle brass.

Sounds like they have been fired a lot or the brass is brittle,if you anneal it and they have been fired a lot,the brass might get too soft and come apart in your chamber. I would throw it away. vangunsmtih

correct annealing would not allow or cause the case to seperate in the chamber.
