Default Favorite .223 40gn Loads?

I've been using a great little western ground squirrel load in 223rem for years now. I put a 40gn Vmax in front of 25gns of 2015BR (now called XMR2015.) I have vaporized and helicoptered hundreds of pounds of the little critters with this load. It grouped 3/4" in my worn out 788 and shoots better than 1/2" in my new T3 Lite. This with surplus brass and thrown charges. The problem is aa2015 is hard to find locally. I'm hoping someone out there has a 40gn .223 pet load using a different powder that I can get at the local sporting goods store.

Help!

Try Varget by Hogdon it works great for me and you can buy it almost anywhere. I buy mine from wal-mart for 18.00 a pound. Hope this helps.

Why change your load ?
If you are old enough ( I think 18 )
I would just order 1 or more 8 lb jugs from Widners .
If you shot a lot I would order more than 1 jug to spread the shiping cost over more lb's.

If you can find some in your area the 2230-c works very well in a 223 for 40gr to 60 gr bullets. It is the similar to 748and BLC2.I have bought it as low as 64.00 a 8lb jug.It is clean and meters very well.

Me either. I have gotten to where I avoid Wal-Mart like the plague. 10,000 people. 2 Open registers. No thanks. Now they are all Super Wal-Marts. I don't know what makes them so super. They add a grocery section and open an extra register.

As far as powder, I have tried and had success with Win. 748 and IMR 4320, but will probably continue experimenting with additional powders just for the heck of it.

There is 2 wal-marts that cary a limited amount of reloading supplies within 30 miles of where I live in NC.I checked one closest to me last Sat. and was very surprized the prices were higher on most things that I get from my favorite gun shop.I did save $1 on a can of powder but had to drive 10 miles farther to get it.
Was talking to a guy that owns a gun shop last summer and he was telling me about the one that sells reloading supplies about 30 miles from me said he stopped there and bought his powder when he was that way.I thought to myself if he owns a gun shop why would he worry about buying powder at wal mart,I am sure he can get it cheaper from his distrubtors. Now I know he was full of it.
