Default Tumbler and Case Trimmer

Santa brought me a RCBS Rockchucker for Christmas . Now I need a few other things and I'm on a budget due to moving into a new home. I have about $40 credit at BassPro and they have a Lyman Pro Turbo Tumbler 1200 for $59.99. Was wondering if this tumbler is any good, especially for $20.00 I'm not reloading alot of ammo, mainly .308 for a single shot and 30-30 so capacity isn't a problem.

I'm also wondering about the Redding Complete Case Trimmer. http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.c...?sku=0007614000 If it's good or should I use another brand.

Thanks in advance guys! I appreciate any help

IMO buy the 1200 ,you will not be sorry. I have 1 and have used it for 10 or so years.
The Redding trimer is great.
That is what I am going to replace my RCBS junk trimmer with later this winter.
If you are pinched for $$ ,the Lee case trimmer is cheap and it works good . It is preset for 1 length it either trims if the case is too long or not .
You will also need a de-buring tool .
I use a RCBS that I have had for years, several companys make just about the same one.

If you are reloading a popular caliber, its hard to beat the price and ease of use of a Lee trimmer.

If your not going to reload a lot,you don't need a tumbler IMO! As for the case trimmer that is a must,I like RCBS...

You probably don't need a tumbler, but to have nice clean brass, it sure helps. As for trimmers, I use a RCBS and I have spend the extra cash for the 3 way trimmer on several of my main calibers. It takes one more step away, and is more uniform.

I just recently got into reloading also. I got the Redding trimmer and I like it. It is easy and consistent, and it comes with everthing you need. I was suprised to find that the brushes and primer cleaners fit the little handle that came with the RCBS kit. I don't have a tumbler, and am not planning on buying one any time soon. I just use Hornady One-Shot case lub and then wipe the brass off after resizing. It keeps everything fairly clean.

I like the Lyman tumbler also. Got one last year. As for the trimmer, I prefer the RCBS Trim-pro.

TScottW99,

Here are a couple of links on the Lyman 1200 tumblers,

Lyman 1200
Midsouth/ Lyman 1200

Also, for the money, the "VibraShine" tumblers, as well as the Frankford Arsenal offerings are just as good for even less money.
I've had the older Lyman 1200, and the VibraShine V30 for several years. The Lyman is much older, and the VibraShine is a lot larger.
They're both working fine.

Looking at the VibraShine products, I wouldn't doubt whether they might produce Lyman's tumblers. The media containers are exactly the same, but they most likely purchase them from the same supplier as Lyman, who knows.
Here's their company site VibraShine Tumblers.....I believe you can buy them cheaper with a google search, rather than the manufacturers site.
They also produced VS20 & VS30 models. I have the VS30. I'll email them and see if they still produce them, even though they're not shown on the website.
The VS30 is huge, and I paid around $50-60 for mine back about 6 yrs or so ago.
You'll have to sift through the trimmers on the two links I left above from Natchez and Midsouth. They're usually the cheapest online sites to buy from.

Take care,
Bob
