Default .270 Accubond meats elk

No, I didn't use the wrong word for "meat"! I shot the elk with my .270 and now it's meat. On another post, I asked opinions on using Accubonds or Partitions for my cow elk hunt and thanks for the good advice. I went with the Accubond because they group a little better in my Ruger. I also get much better groups with a lighter load. I loaded the 140 grain A-bond with 51.5 gr IMR 4831. At about 150 yards on a steep downhill angle, I took out both lungs. The elk ran less than 40 yards and was dead in less than 5 seconds. I could not recover the bullet. I will be using this load again. Jim

Thats awesome!!! I like the accubonds more and more. Of course it helped that I killed an elk myself with them!

yeah I have been loading the accubond for myself, 7mm rem mag, and 300rum, and for 2 friends, 338 win mag, and 7mm STW, and I have also found that in all 4 guns, (2 rugers, a savage and a weatherby) that they all like the low side of the manuals recommended charges in fact all but one shoot the lowest load. Just thought I would tell you that what you experienced isnt uncommon.
