I'd hazard a guess that your data specifies Winchester primers, or maybe the powder is IMR type powder, or maybe both. Winchester primers are hot. Olin (a division Of Winchester) developed their primers for ball powders, which are harder to ignite than IMR (stick) type powders, and of which Olin was the first to manufacture.

7mm rem mag shoots faster powders well like 4350 and no need for real hot primers. If I was shooting retumbo or RL25, I would shoot 215M. I stay away from winchester primers. Just too hot.

I find that r-22 and federal 215 primers have worked best for me in the 7mmremmag.

I've used both Fed 210's and 215's and find the 215's give me the best results.

I use RL22 and magnum primers for my loads. I'm pushing 140 and 150 grain bullets.

ok, bear with me, Im trying to follow all this stuff, so if I were shooting the exact same loads i.e. 61 gr RL 22 with a 160 gr Partition, but use different primers, say Win Mags and Federal 215's what would be the noticable difference? Inconsistent groups? Flingers? or would my overall group be higher because of a higher velocity?

Mossy, remind me to make a copy of Precision Shooters article on primers. Its called a primer on primers part II. They show safe loads with CCI 250 primers that turn way over pressure when a Winchester mag primer is used.

Lots of things can happen. Flyers, over pressure, velocity spreads all over the place, or just sucky accruacy. Or great accuracy.

I have always stayed with CCI primers and have had good luck.
