Default H-4831 and H-4831sc

Are they interchangeable? I would think so but I can't find it written anywhere. One is cut shorter than the other ..Thanks

I wouldn't mix the 2 powders together but I've used the same load data for both.

The SC works better in powder measures and is all I use now

Yes, they are interchangeable. In Hodgdon's own words in the front of their manual, "Ballistically, this Extreme Extruded powder is the exact copy of H4831. Physically, it has a shorter grain size, therefore, the designation SC or short cut."

And it does definitely flow better through a powder measure.

The others are correct. They shortened up the sticks just to make them flow better through powder measures.

H4831sc takes up less space in the case than H4831. 60grs. of short cut fits
in my 270 a lot more comfortably than the H4831.Less compression. Each has it's place. I like them both.

Yes interchangalbe to a point. I do find pressure and velocity distances. No matter what is written. Try for yourself and make your own decision.
