Default .35 cal Sierra 225gr Spitzers?

I am about to start developing a load for my new remington 760 which has been rechambered to .358 win. I was going to start with the 225 sierra boattail spitzers. Wondering if any body has used these on deer and how they performed. I have been using 200 Hornady Spirepoints in my BLR .358 but was hoping to move up a little in weight and penetration as the Hornadys don't always exit. This rifle will be used primarily on Northern whitetail (Ontario) in thick cover, usually around 40-50 yds.

If you are looking for greater penetration use a Barnes X, or Nosler Partition. Good luck.

If you do not mind the extra cost Swift makes 225 and 250 A-Frames.

I plan on getting some for my 350 mag. Right now I am using Speer 250 Spitzers and can get 3/4 to 7/8 inch groups at 100 yards.

Last year I got my Moose with arrow so hoping to not even use rifle this year.

I have used the sierra 225gr gameking SBT. It was a accurate bullet and came highly recomended to me by the guy that got me into 35 whelens. When the 225gr Nosler BT came out it was too brittle and would overexpand and not achieve adequate penetration, they have since fixed the problem and they too are good performers. For the price difference I would stick with the sierra bullets though. Try them out they will work just fine on whitetail and even larger game.

Hornady's 250 grain innerlock is probably as good as you'll get in close quarters where you want penetration on a whitetai.l
