Default mags, need a good recipe.

Looking at reloading for 300 wby. What is a good recipe in a 180 grain or 165 grain. Im concerned with bullets splatering at close ranges.

Im looking for something that will reach out to 400 yrds, flat. I will use it for hogs, and whitetail. Im concerned with close up shots, as well, causing the bullet to splater. Where I will be hunting with this gun, ill get shots as far as im capable of shooting, and some as close as 10 yards. Im going to spend all summer practicing long range shots. 350 to 400 yards. I feel comfortable making 300 yard shots with my good old 30-06. Got a new 300 wby and want to use it on some of my land that has visability for miles.

Nosler Partitions, Speer Grand Slams, Trophy Bonded Bear Claws, Barnes, will all work fine. I am going to load some Hornady 180 Interbonds soon, just to see how they fly!

Ive never loaded for mags. I load my for my other 30s, 30-06 and 30-30. Just needed some advice form someone who has played with the mags.

I'll give you my experience and it may differ from other but I have found all my mag's shoot better with a compressed laod. You know the one that gets the powder so full that seating the bullet compresses it. Maybe that big ol case needs it that way. I use accurate 4350 powder on everthing I can.......cause I bought a bunch of it on sale. It is realy a good powder.

165 Grain Nosler Part
Case OA 3560
3189 FPS
Weatherby Mark 5 26" barrel
