Default 338 Rum Loads

It's time to start working up a load for my new Model 700 BDL Stainless 338 Rum. Has anyone had good or bad loads with this caliber.
Still waiting for another 4.5x 16 x 40 Leupold to arrive to get on paper.
When they came out with the Model 700 BDL Stainless 300 Rum I had to have one. I bought a box of Remington 180 GR Noslers just to get on paper with.
They clover leafed at 100 yards consistantly and I didn't see the need to monkey with perfection and since have had 1 shot kills on 4 Elk,1 Antelope ( little incidental meat loss there)and a good 15 Deer.
Although I had a complete accurizing package done to both rifles I am kind of hoping to reload for the 338 using the Barnes x. I have a BC Moose/Caribou hunt coming up End of Sept and would like to have it dialed in by then.
Yah I know the 300 would be just fine for the Moose......But would like to play with a new toy.
If anyone could give me any Pro's and Con's to reloading for this caliber especially with the Barnes X it would be great. If someone has had some good experiances with factory ammo that would be a plus also.
Looking at using a 250 GR bullet or so.
I have been reading that this bullet is a little finiky could use some help.
Thanks in advance

I own a .340 Wby. Mag. and push a 250 gr. Barnes XFB 3062 f/s 5204 ft/lb using Norma MRP. I have killed two elk with 250 gr. Barnes XFB; both one shot kills. The Barnes .338 dia. 250 gr. XFB is an excellent bullet. Good luck.

Hello friend. I bought a 338 RUM about a year ago and love it... I use factory ammo and have found that the 250 gr. corelock Ultras work very well on just about any big game animal. they hit hard and shoot flat. I have killed 2 big 500 plus pound Oryx and a nice 6x6 bull Elk. the Elk was at 450 yards out and dropped like a stone. My bullet retained 70% of its weight. On the two Oryx they also fell in their tracks although one was only about 150 yards away. The energy lifted the animal off its feet and tossed it like a rag doll. The good news is that I had very little met loss and the bullets mushroomed very nice. all three retained about 70% of their weight. Hope you like it like I do. happy hunting. Leroy.

Leroy:
Thanks for the info. I will go ahead and start with a box of the 250 Gr Corelock's to get on paper and see how well they shoot.
Thanks
Bob

If you want to use the Barnes Bullets they do have some reloading data on the 338 Rum, on their web site. I personally dont like the Barns bullets becouse they do foul in my rifle. and they are a pain to clean after.
