Has anyone ever heard of the 22-06 short wildcat. i have looked all over and have found a picture with dimensions. what i really need is some data. if you know some place that has it post a link. i think this round is exactly what i need for an old 06 i found dirt cheap.
How long is it? If you cut an '06 case down from 63 to 57mm, it would be a .22 Newton from around 1900. If you cut it down to 51mm, it would be a .22/243 Win., also nothing new....

Hmm, being different I suppose is one reason to fool with a wildcat cartridge, but usually wildcats offer something that standard rounds do not. I have no idea what this round could possibly offer that other rounds don't already have. I think someone just drew this up for the reason of being different. I can't see it doing anything a 220 Swift won't do. If you really want a wildcat, try the 22/243. Either way you are going to pay for dies.
22-06, wow, that sucker would be cruising around 4000fps. The 22-243 Middlestead all my friends shoot cruises around that. It would be interesting to see however.
i think the 22-06 runs about 4300-4500 where as th 22-243 is closer to 5000fps max. loading. that is just a little to fast for my taste. i would affraid of the barrel going south sooner than i would like. but the 06 round imo would not burn a good barrel out but still give high performance. my only problem is i have found only one loading the round. if i could find more this would be my gun of choice. since i cant i'm now looking at the 19-223 calhoon in a howa 1500. does anyone have any feedback on the calhoon?
Forgive my ingorance, but isn't the 22-250 basically a shortened and necked down 30-06? I know it's originally based on the 250-3000, but I was under the impression that it was the same basic dementions as the 30-06 and .270?
