Default Vibratory Case Cleaners

I just picked one up at a show this weekend.

I got treated corn cob media to start. How long do you run the thing with a load of brass. Do you do this before and after decapping and sizing ? Again after to get rid of the lube? How long does the media last? Any other help would be great!

Thanks

Vibrate the brass until it' s shiny.....often times overnight.....over eight hours...

Get some liquid from Dillon to recharge the media.....add a teaspoon every time you use it. The corn cobs will last a many years.....

I like to vibrate the brass after resizing and depriming......but you must look for media in the primerhole before priming if you do this.....otherwise vibrate the brass before resizing.

Thanks. I' ve got a load going now.

OK, what about media seperators. I' ve seen the saucer shaped large bowls that go onto the vibrator bowl and you just dump in the whole lot and turn it on. I' ve seen the seperators at Midwat that look like a old ringer washer with the side crank. Whats good? Right now, I' m using one of the wifes collanders from the kitchen[]

What is the difference b/t corn and walnut media?

Thanks

a colandar is a good idea....wish I' d thought of that. I have a dillon separator that works well.....but a lot more cash than you have invested.

It' s my assessment that corn polishes to a higher luster and walnut produces a faster but lower luster.....try some of each and be your own judge.....the stuff isn' t that expensive.

I run mine through with the primer in, that way you don' t have to worry about media in the primer flash hole. You can wipe the case down later with one of those " crazy closthes" .

I like to use corn cob for polishing, and walnut for cleaning.

Should have bout a Lyman Turbo auto-flow tumbler, you just pull the plug, turn the machine on and the media drains out in a pan leaving nothing but brass in the tumbler. No need for case separators. LOL, NBH[8D]

I only use the walnut media; I need to try the corn cob media for polishing. Good luck.

When I purchased my tumbler from Midway a few years ago, it came in a kit that had a large bucket and a separator that sits on top of the bucket that you pour your brass and media into after you are done tumbling. Give it a few shakes and most of the media falls into the bucket. Like Vapodog said, you still have to check the primer pockets and flashhole if you tumble after resizing. I have always used corn cob and and Iosso or Midway brass polish added each time to refreshen the corn cob. The corn cob media will last a long time, I only replace mine when it starts to get sticky from resizing lube or too much brass polish additive. If it starts to pack inside your brass and not pour out easily, then it's time to change your media.
