Default Nosler Accubond & Partition preformance on deer

My wife filled both of her deer tags with her 7mm Remington Ultra Mag shooting 160 grain Nosler Accubonds. The accubond expanded well.
I also filled both of my deer tags with my 7mm STW shooting 140 grain Nosler Partitions. The Partitions expanded well also.
All four deer offered perfect broadside shots. No bullets or bullet fragments were recovered. The exit wound on all four deer looked the same.
I would say if you are looking for a good all-around bullet take a coin & flip it between the Partitions & Accubonds.

As a side note my father hunted with me last weekend. He was shooting his 30-06 with 180-grain Remington Core-lokt ammo. He also shot his deer broadside thur the ribs on both sides. His bullet left a larger exit wound. His bullet also " bloodshot" more meat.

Interesting in that you went to all that trouble and expense to show up the old 30-06 with a factory load. Sound like dad is way ahead and not even trying.

Thanks for the update!

I used Partitions for my spike Elk this year (2nd year using Partitions) out of my 7mm Rem. Mag.

It was a long shot, around 350 yards (have my scope set up as a range-finder-email me how) and hit him 4 times.

I recovered 2 bullets from him and both had really exploded the front section and most or all lead was gone but the copper was all fragmented and sticking out from all sides of the bullet (still intact). The rear section of both bullets were perfectly intact with all the copper jacket from the front hanging off the sides. In my mind they performed exactly as I hoped. I' ll try to remember to post pictures of the bullets if I get time (someone remind me if you want).

Thank' s for the info! Do you like the way the STW preforms overall? I have been up in the air about adding that caliber to my collection for about a year now. It won' t take much too talk me into buying one...

PaJack
I love my 7mm STW. I bought it in a Remington Sendero. Finding a handload for it was hard, because it liked just about everything I loaded for it.
I decided on 79-grain of IMR-7828 topped with 140-grain Nosler Partition. This is my Deer, Antelope, Black Bear & Elk load. I like to have one load for each rifle. My primary elk rifle is my 300-win mag loaded with 200 grain Partitions or Accubonds. But the 7mm STW makes a fine back-up rifle.

Good report. According to Nosler the accubond should be a little tougher bullet than the Partition with the Partition gold being the toughest. I have shot many head of game with the Barnes X. Never can recover them. They always exit.
