Default Anyone reloading 40 S&W

I have been reloading only a few months now. I have done very well with my rifle loads. I have attempted to load rounds for my .40 cal. smith & wesson sw99 which shoots extremely with factory loads. Some of my loads will not feed thru. My manual says a taper crimp is not necessary but if you desire a slight crimp can be applied. I have resized, opened the case slightly for easy bullet insertion and seated the bullet to it' s proper depth. Do I need to buy a taper crimp die and crimp each round or what might I do to correct this problem? Any suggestions would be appreciated

Yes, with all semi' s I highly suggest a taper crimp. I can' t believe your manual won' t tell you that. I would check to see if your loads are not pushing the bullet back and giving you pressure issues. I shoot unique thru mine and get some good velocities. I suggest the Lee factory crimp die. I also load for a 357Sig, which gives me crimp problems, so I found I need to buy the insert for a 9mm crimp die from Lee, and use that insert in my 40S&W crimp die. Seems to work great.
