Federal Vital Shok ???'s
Thought I'd take apart a Vital shok in .308 with 180 gr Partitions. I first noticed the bullet has a cannelure! I cannot find a Nosler Partition in 180 gr anywhere with a cannelure. So what is it really I asked?
Then the powder was a small "ball" powder. Very tiny grains. Weighed 54.5 grains!! That's packin' a load. I also noticed the bullet was compressing the powder. That's how much there was.
I like this round and would like to duplicate it as closly as possible. Getting the 180 gr NP (without cannelure) would be no problem, but what about the powder? Nothing I have or could find comes close to loading 54.5 grains in this cartridge.
