Default Loads for .300 Win Mag

Hello all. Finally got around to registering and this is my first post. Have experience in reloading .308 and .35Rem for my Contender. Recently bought
a new Encore chambered in .300 Win Mag. I' m in the process of ordering RCBS
dies. Before I purchase bullet heads and powder, was wondering if anyone could
furnish me with a good starting point for a load? This year will use the Encore
for Whitetails and Black Bear in New York. Hopefully in the not to distant furture
will be able to head out west for an Elk hunt...

Default RE: Loads for .300 Win Mag

I' ve always believed the .308 Winchester should be ideal with the 165 grain bullet, the .30-06 to be ideal with the 180 grain bullet and the .300 Win Mag to use the 200 grain bullet......I still believe it.....take some 200 grainers deer hunting.....it' ll be good experience for your elk trip.
