nosler does not make .338" partitions in 165gr. and there is no such thing as a commercially made 338remington mag .There is a 338win mag and a 338 ultramag available commercially.

The lightest bullets you will find in factory loads are made by Remington 200 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip, and Winchester 200 gr. Power Point. Federal and Remington load a 210 gr. Nosler Partition. Good luck.

mThank you to all who sent me ideas on what to load.... Sorry to the one that said that remington did not make a 338.... Sorry it is a win....I was thinking remington and did not type the right thing....

I have tried the Ballistic tip and I have found that it does too much damage to the annimal..

Thanks to all

Just which ballistic tip did you use and on what animal did it cause excessive damage? The larger caliber ballistic tips are made with much thicker jackets and are much tougher than the smaller caliber versions in anticipation of them being used on larger game.I have seen the 200gr .338 ballistic point out of a .338" used on moose and it performed very well.

Ok lets try this again....220 gr ballistic tip destroys deer...that is why I am looking for a lighter load that will work well on deer without blowing them apart...
I also have a 30-06 that useing the 180 trophy bonded and it did lots of damage as well...I have since switched to 150 gr. nosler partition and it has great knock down power but does not blow the animal apart..now I am looking for the same kind of load for the 338 .....[][]

You are obviously confused as nosler does not make a 220gr ballistic tip in any caliber.

Only company that makes bullets that light for a 338 would be Barnes. If I am not mistaken they make a 165 and 180 grain X bullet...No such animal as a 220 grain 338 ballistic tip
