Default 5" at 500

Shot a 3 shot group a 500 yds that was inside 5
inches. With my mod 700 in a 300 rum they dropped 36" First time shooting it at that range. Had to tell someone.

Ive only tried shooting 500 off the bench a couple times. It was a little too windy for my little 110 grain .270 bullets to shoot any groups but I banged a 6 inch gong a few times. Fine shooting sir, what load were you using?

good deal, very few people can hold 1 MOA at 500, especialy with a run of the mil BT, I'd reccomend trying the 208 gr hornady A-max, or a berger. good long range bullets are easier to shoot well at extended range.
My best group was fired with my 6.5 Gibbs, running a 139 gr lapua scenar at 3280 fps, 1 5/8' at 502 yards.

a-max's do well if you keep the impact velocities below 3100 fps, bergers do at least as well as the BT's and accubonds at ranges beyond 250-300 yards. wouldn't shoulder shoot a deer with either at less than 100 yards but they'd do ok with lung shots.
My method is lung shoot to 400 yards, hold center shoulder from 400 on out. This works pretty well.

The good part about the bullets I reccomend is that they are VLD's (very low drag) even though the BT's ain't bad as far as BC goes, the VLD's will drop and drift at least 20% less at long range, even though they start out with a lower MV, BC outruns velocity every time in the world of long range shooting.

Good shooting for the first time, it gets easier with practice.

Bone stock Rem 308 SPS V bolted up in a AICS 1.5 at 600yards. Shot prone off a bipod using 168 SMK/Varget.... grouped slightly under 2".
