Default Factory load for .270

I used to use Hornady 140 gr. SPBT and had good luck with them. 5 yrs ago I started using the SST Hornady 140 gr. have shot 6 deer with them but it seems like I don't get the knock down in their tracks and exits that the SPBT's had. I'm going out to hunt Colorado Wt's this fall and then Alberta. I have thought about going back to the SPBT's. I like the 140 gr. ballistics but has anyone used either of these and what is their opinion on which is better. I would be open to maybe try a different 140 round. Thanks

Default Bullets

I know this is a reloading area of the forum so I thought I would change my question to : What do you fellows think of the SSt Hornady bullets vrs the SPBT bullet by Hornady?

I've had good luck with Bergers and TSX's out of a .270 on deer. Recently been shooting those new Powermax Bondeds, just haven't shot an animal yet with them...

I load the 140 grain Hornady in the 270 Weatherby. They work great for me. Haven't tried the others. If it's working, I don't fix it.

Aside from the tips they are the same bullet internally.

Default Knockdown power

Thanks for the input I am wondering though if anyone has experience a difference in the knockdown power and the bloodtrails you get from them. I really can't complain though I have never lost a deer with either. The SSt's shoot a little more better out of my Sako but in reality my gun shoots 130 core lokts the best. I wish remington made a 140 in a .270.

If your rifle likes the 130 corelokts the best then use them in Colorado and Alberta. A 130 grain corelokt is more than enough bullet to take down the biggest white tails. Unless I were going after bigger animals (elk, moose, etc...) with a .270 I wouldn't shoot anything than a standard 130 grain lead core bullet.
