Default Can the 7mmWSM be loaded down to 7mm-08..

.....without sacrificing accuracy? Looking at 140 grains going around 2700 fps. It doesn't do justice to the WSM, and it looks like its below the recommended minimum on the loading tables. If thats the case, then the 7wsm could essentially cover all things between 7-08 to 7WSM..

doable?

Key words would be " without sacrificing accuracy"....

I haven't had any experience with that chambering, but many of those big overbore mags shoot thier best when loaded to the max... Most people who buy 7mm mags aren't real interested in pushing a 140 grain bullet at 2700..

I'm sure you can do with some load work up. My 270 WSM prints 1/2" groups at 100 yds with the 140 gr Accubond and SST loaded to 270 Win velocities. If I wanted to shoot a 270 I would have bought one though. My hunting load is a 130 gr Ballistic Tip at 3250 fps. 3/4-1" groups.

Can't decide between a 7-08, 280, 7mmMag, 7mmWSM. Figure the WSM covers all...

22" tube.
So getting those numbers in the WSM, with room to go should the need arise (western hunt??) pretty much a waste of time?

And the response in my email said...

"I've zero qualm killing Critters at 1000+ with my 22" 7-08's...or any of my other .284's.

Bullets matter more than headstamps and balance/handling is what makes/breaks a killing rifle."

So like mama said "if it feels good, do it"? i.e. 7wsm will handle all things 7-08 and then some if need be (big emphasis on need), assuming its in a package that's comfy cozy with a good piece of glass on top....You had mentioned a Kimber Montana 7wsm on another thread....

guess he got banned for decent advice again.

Larry may be on the abrasive side but he is very knowledgeable and has some good advice and always more than happy to respond if asked for help or advice.

It's a pain how the mods erase his stuff. If it's vulgar, then just erase that part. I've followed some of his other threads and it's like reading a book with half the pages ripped out. Anyway, I think he knows his schit, and their are some people jealous of his knowledge. The abrasive stuff is just the way some people are. Unless you know a mans story, you have no right to judge him.....

Enough of the mushy crap, I'm just trying to buy a new gun.....

You can load it down pretty far. You can use the H-4895 60% rule.

As for accuracy, who knows. For short ranges, sub moa accuracy isn't needed anyway.
