I've been working on a varmint load for my .308. The last bullets I loaded were 110 gr hp sierra. They shoot great and will do a number on armadillos. They wont poof a crow though. Is there a ballistic tip for my rifle that will do the job? In your opinion what is the most explosive bullet, for said caliber.
110gr Hornaday V-Max. POOF! I shoot them 3800fps out of a 300WM, you should be able to get very nice speed from a 308. They tolerate long jumps to the lands well.
I've got some Speer 130gr JHPs that do the job. 47 grs of IMR 4064 is a middle of the road load at 2943 fps. 47 grs of IMR 4895 is a max load at 2923 fps.
