Default nosler partition

A man told me awhile back, not to buy partition bullets. I ask why and he replied that in his rifle they didnt shoot well at all. I assume he tried different amounts of powder. He went on to tell me that he had captured one of his spent rounds and the base of the bullet looked deformed. So my question is. Could it be possible, given the bullet construction, for the propellant to melt or damage the base of the bullet during ignition?

It is very possible that his rifle did not like the Partitions, all rifles are different. It's also possible he didn't take the time to develope an accurate load with the Partitions. Me, I love the Partition, it's all I shoot for Big Game. Accuracy is outstanding and performance is unmatched. But, that's just me, I take my time and work up loads with differend powders until I am satisfied.

Here is just a few examples of the accuracy of the Partition. These were all shot at 100 yards.

Nice shooting! If they work for you that awsome. I myself have never considered shooting the bullet because it doesnt fit my needs. What you say could be very true about fine tuning the reloading process. I still want to know if this is possible. y/n ?

Partitions were always very accurate in my rifles. I just don't like the way they perform. The shed 60% of their weight and exit with just a caliber-sized shank stub.

Barnes X, Trophy Bonded Bear Claws and Swift A-frames will retain much more weight and exit with a 150-200% caliber diameter mushroom.

.
That is exactly what the Partition was designed to do. The front half of the "partition" is a standard cup and core design. It expands fairly rapidly with exceptional terminal performance, while the back half of the "partition" stays in tact and drive on through for exceptional penetration.

Exactly. They were the bee's knees in 1950. We're in 2010 and bullets have moved on. The Partion is an 8-track. The new bullets are iPods.

Partitions are fine bullets and probably the best in thier day 20 years ago. Lots of other choices these days.

They are expensive, and expensive to build, and never were known to be target bullets.
