Default 209 Shotshell Primers

I asked this question in the gun form, but would like to see if I get more response here. Which 209 Shotshell Primer is more uniform, hotter, and best all around. I am going to use them in a muzzleloader. Thanks in advance.

It' s been my experience that Winchester primers tend to run hotter than the rest, although if I were to use anything else it would be Federals. CCI can keep their garbage.

There' s big differences in shotshell primers.....and if loading shotshells, you might want to be cautious about the primer......but for starting the fires of black powder, I' d pick one and stay with it.....I happen to like Winchester but any of them will do. I do believe the Federal primer is hotter.

The ones Winchester makes just for muzzleloaders work just fine! Actually, any 209 you can find is so much hotter than any type of muzzleloader cap that there is no comparison at all! You don' t have to worry about a 209 not being hot enough for a muzzleloader, just the opposite, in fact! The main question with the 209 is " how easy is it to get the fired primer out of your gun when reloading??" !
