I have everything I need to load 380 auto, .40S&W, 45acp, .223, 7mm Rem Mag, .270Win, and 308 all in RCBS and I doubt I have much more than $500 in it.

I like RCBS stuff the best so far. But I am happy with a lot of lee stuff. For getting started, I'm glad I went Lee. I will continue to buy Lee products. But if I can...RCBS is great.

$100 bucks from LEE for the challenger kit to get started, is hard to beat imo.
You could always spend more & upgrade to a RCBS progressive later on if you decide to.
Good luck.

Dillon has some great stuff, particularly if you're into reloading for the sheer volume of it (semi-autos, etc.). But their stuff carries a stiff price for that capability.

I look at it this way. I have 100 rounds of something to reload. I can spend a week of evenings running them through my Rockchucker, or I can run them through a Dillon in one night and then let my wife decide to do with the other four evenings.

Yeah. You did leave out Dillon and Foster.
Also, the poll does not accommodate different types of presses. For one by one loading, for instance, I like the Rockchucker. For bulk loading of .30-06, I like the Dillon 550. And so on....

I like RCBS the best. I do not believe they are the best but they certainly make excellent equipment and have the best customer service. A Forester CoAx press is the "BEST" single stage press I am aware of.
I have equipment from just about every manufacture of handloading gear there is. I don't think anybody makes 'bad' stuff. Some is just better than others.

If I were just starting I would shop around and buy just what I needed used if I could find it.
For example I have purchased online

used RCBS JR2 press for $20
used RCBS case trimmer with all pilots $12 plus shipping
misc sets of dies for less than $20 each
powder measure $40
digital scale $70
loading books $15

I am not particularly fond of Lee equip. but it works and you get what you pay for. I really like Redding dies best but I have dies in green boxes, blue boxes, black boxes, red boxes, orange boxes and even some partial sets with no boxes.

I would not recommend a Dillon for a beginner, it's intimidating to many experienced handloaders getting everything set up correctly. For a beginner you should be paying attention to learning the craft, not pumping out volume. There is nothing wrong with Lee if on a budget but as far as price vs quality the Lyman I feel is the best bet. RCBS is good but overpriced for much of what they offer.

All of my reloading is RCBS except for a lee primer. Never had any problems with RCBS.
