To promote reliability, Glocks have their feedramp cut with a shallower angle to guide hollow point bullets into the chamber. This leaves part of the case unsupported forward of the web where the brass thins to the case wall thickness. Brass is much weaker than steel, and in the case of a higher than normal pressure load, the brass case can rupture where it's not supported, blowing very large volume of gas into the plastic frame of the pistol resulting in catastrophic damage to the gun and injury to the shooter. Glocks have been known to "KaBOOM" (aka kB) with factory loads, but the phenomenon is most common with reloads. The solution is to replace the factory barrel with an aftermarket bbl with a steeper feedramp that results in a fully supported chamber.
