I' m fairly new to the reloading scene and recently loaded some barneX bullets for a 300wm. With the die set to push the bullet just short of the lands, the total cartridge length was too long to fit down in the magazine. I shoot a Ruger All weather and have never had this problem before. I had to push teh bullets a littler deeper to fix the problem. Any comments from the experts?

Your problem is not a rare one. A friend of mine owns a Browning A-Bolt Gold Medallion in a 300 Win. Mag., and also has the same problem. I just seated the bullet the length of the magazine. The rifle shoots .50" groups with the aid of the BOSS System. Keep experimenting with it till you find that load. Good luck.

The X bullet being made of all copper(less dense) instead of lead makes it a bit longer than a conventional lead/jacketed bullet. A bullet of any given weight, say a 180 grain Sierra pro hunter will be shorter than a Barnes 180 grain X bullet. I wouldnt fret, not all loads shoot best when backed off just off the lands.
