Default Die Maintenance

Hey guys,

What do you guys do to maintain your dies?

Do you take them apart and clean them? If so do you use solvent? Apply oil?

I had a Lee die rust on me recently. Don't want all my dies to end up like that one.

Thanks

Tom

I tear them apart, once in a while, and use air brake cleaner in them. I spray them out, wipe them out, and then reassemble them and spray the interior with a light coating of one shot.

Just about everytime I use em. Unless I know I am going to be reloading later that week. I load for well over 15 rifle cartridges so I rarely shoot the same gun.

I use WD-40 and a test tube brush. I lightly coat the die and button with Imperial Die Wax. Good luck.

Aerosol brake cleaner or electrical connector cleaner(the best), and forced air. I only clean mine occasionally. Just store them well, and clean from time to time. Best thing is to just go easy on the lube. I always tumble my brass before and after I size. It takes extra time to do that. But I am not in any hurry. If you get too much lube then use a grease cutter with a Q-tip. Just never use a brush(just my opinion). Tom.

I spray mine out from time to time with brake parts cleaner followed by forced air and then some One Shot. A couple of my dies from seating cast bullets get a bit gummed up from bullet was/lube and need an occasional cleaning.
