Default +P handgun Brass

I rarely buy handgun brass, and ashamed to say the thousands of pieces I do have are range pickups. But I recently have found range brass harder and harder to get. So I went thru some my regular sources and saw +P 45ACP and +P 9mm brass. I didn't knwo there was a difference. Is it heavier?

I don't believe that the brass is different. It's just factory loaded to a higher pressure and stamped +P so that it is not mistakenly shot in older guns andones that are not capable of handling the higher pressure.

So you think that when they make +P ammo, they make sure to +p stamp and we can buy either +p or regular and load as we see fit?

Might be, makes sense I guess.

I was just reading starline's webpage and they say the 38spl +p and 9mm+p is same as thier regular but then you come to the 45ACP+p and it says it has 2gr less water wieght due to thicker web. I wonder if that is just starline or all?

I saw that on the starline web page also.ButI cannot find anything else in my books or online on the other brands that would indicate that the brassare any different orther than the +P stamp. So that is a good question.

I dont know, but I would think the manuals would note the smaller case volume like they do the military rifle brass, and my manuals do not address +p brass at all.

I would guess the marking is to ensure it is not fired in firearms not rated for +p pressures.
