Pete D,Thank you. I will be looking forward to the info. EldeQuullo,Great information and im talking about out to about 400 yds. The 130 gr rem coreloc drops 2" at 200 yds, 13" at 300 and 27" at 400. Blasserman. THank and maybe I'll stick with the 130 gr bullet. im shooting a 5" group at 400yds.
Trying to get you info but there are some info problems. The "drop" info - bullet drops 2" at 200 yards.....What is the zero from which you started?
The 110 grain bullet - I looked in the Sierra manual (5th ed.) and they do not list a 110 gr BT in 270 cal. Max velocity listed for 4831 is 3100 fps. for their SP.
At that velocity, the 110 drops (BC .370/100 yard zero) 2.84" at 200 yards, 10.92" at 300 yards, 25.38" at 400 yards.
The 130 grain Rem bullet (BC .409) has a max velocity using 4831 of about 3000 fps. Using a 100 yard zero, the bullet will drop 3.06" at 200 yards, 11.5" at 300 yards, 26.53" at 400 yards.
The 130 grain bullet will have a retained velocity of 2110 fps at 400 yards with 1284 fpe.
The 110 grain bullet will have a retained velocity of 2107 fps at 400 yards with 1084 fpe.
All this data is as run in the program I have (Ballistics!) and may vary from other programs. It corresponds pretty well with the data in the Hornady manuals.

I used to zero my 270 130-grain load +4" @ 100. It was then +4" @ 200, -3 @ 300, and -12" @ 400. These figures were as tested on a range at the distances shown.
My load was the (old style) 130 grain Nosler Partition bullet with 55.5 grains of IMR 4350. Barrel length 20", MV 2950 FPS. It would have been flatter from a longer barrel, I believe.

deadon - I do believe you will be better off with the 130 gr bullet over the 110 grainer you are thinking about. Shooting a 5" group at 400 yds is pretty good with a sporter rifle. What rifle are you shooting?

Bronco, thank you for straiting me out on the trajectory thing. Good information!!! I have a tikka T3 270 and have been very pleased with it. I have a 6.5 x 284 Howa built by Sams Custom Gun Works that shoots better but it weighs 19.5 lbs and Im getting too old to carry it Again Bronco much thanks.
deadon, I just wanted to add this, now I tend to shoot a bit farther than most folks, and it sounds strange at first but as you progress you'll find that its gosphel.
IN THE LAND OF LONG RANGE SHOOTING, BC OUTRUNS VELOCITY.. EVERY TIME.
just going to a high BC bullet will cut your drop and wind drift by as much as 30 percent.

Ridgerunner, I love the boat tails and believe they generally have a higher BC but i rarely get a chance to shoot at anything over 400 yds. How much does it matter at that close a range? Thank you.
ok, 400 yards is just beyond short range to whats considered medieum range and the difference between the 110 and the 130 would be around 2" at 400 at theyre perspective velocities, but the 130 will retain over 200 ft/lb more energy over the 110.
