Default What kind of powder?

Don't know if this has ever been asked .Never really thought about it before. If for instance you find a factory load that really shoots good.Say you pull the projectile is there some kind of way to do a visual or weigh or whatever to find out what kind of powder they used? like 4064 or 4350 etc.Thought just now kinda popped into my little pea brain.

oops,Sorry just saw the post from HOSS kinda the same.

Don't even try it. There is no reliable way of determining what powder is used in factory ammo. Some of the powder used by the ammo makers is not available to reloaders.

The best you can do is look at the factory data and try to come as close to the FPS as possible with the powders listed in a reloading book or other reliable source

Many powders appear identical to the visual inspection, but are different fromothers that look the same. Many factory loads use powders other than thenumbered propellants we can buy.

A veteran handloader rarely finds that he cannot do better than factory ammoso loading anything "just as good" is a mute point.

The 2 you mentioned above are well used from factory loads(especially IMR-4350). Add H-110 to the list as well( oh yell that is a 41 mag load, huh) LOL bud
