Default Hornady 120 grain SP 7mm-08

I was thinking in trying the 120 grain SP bullet from Hornady in my 7mm-08
The reloading book states this round is for small game I can't see any reason why it wont work on deer .The bullet has a good B.C. and should reduce recoil compared to the 140 grain bullet

The bullet is a lightly contructed bullet designed for extra fast expansion on varmints...

Sure, it will kill a deer with a perfect shot, but it also might blow up and cause a superficial wound with a shoulder shot, and it certainly would be tough on eatin' meat...

Nothing wrong with using 120 grain bullets in the 7 MM 08for deer, but why not use a well constructed bullet designed for deer sized game in that caliber, like the Nosler ballistic tip or the Barnes TSX..??.. My 7mm08 Mountain rifle loves the Barnes 120 TSX, and I have been very happy with the performance on game...A buddy of mine has used the 120 Ballistic tip for years with similar good results..

I've killed a bunch of deer with the 120 gr Hornady, they ain't that tender at 7mm/08 velocities. I like them as well as the 120 BT, and alot better than the 120 sierra's.
