Default RCBS 10-10 Scale ?

How much better is the 10-10 over the 5-0-5?

Also I noticed on Ebay there are several different colors. Some are darker colored, some are very lightly colored and I even found one that was grey. Is there a difference?

Thanks

Tom

Good question. I had a 5-0-5 and a friend of mine gave me a 10-10 because he unscrewed the weights from the swing arm, and lost some of the BB's. I just rezeroed it and put somesame size ball bearingsin there and calibrated it back to zero.

I have had it for years now. I have no idea what I did with my 505 though!!

I'd pick the 505 over the 1010 every time! Why? Becausethe 505 isa lot easier to adjust, cheaper and just as accurate as the 1010...

The only advantage the 10 10 has over the 505 is the MAX amount each will weigh. The 10 10 will weigh more, BUT the 505 will weigh out more powder than anyone will ever load in a cartridge.

Every time you adjust that little wheel on the 10 10 your bang the scale around, on the 505 you don't have that problem.

In my shop, iquit stocking the 10 10's, and i never had even one 505 come back.

I'm still useing a 505 that's over 30 years old and it's still as accurate as new.

I know it's probably for economic reasons (read cheaper to make here), but I sure wish they weighed more. Often thought about trying to put some molten lead in the base of my 505. Just way to easy to get bumped out of kilter.

I think the 10-10 is a great scale. I have the 5-10 and consider the only possible upgrade to it is a 10-10. The pivot points on these 2 are the same and that is what makes them so sensitive, without any drift. If you take care, you can adjust without moving the scale. I do wish someone had a hard mount scale, or a way to add significant weight to a scale. . .

I have been thinking about a board with three little divots to keep my scale from moving.

I also keep my scale on my safe, so it is separate enough from the process so it cannot be bumped.

I wonder how 3 felt or rubber bumbers stuck to the safe would help keep it from moving?

I have found the Lyman-Ohaus M5 to be an excellent scale. It resembles the self-storing RCBS scale, but I don't know if they are indeed the same.

Color older RCBS light green......newer darker green.........made by Ominus will be gray.

RCBS does not make the scales they are made Ominus for RCBS.
