Default 7mm-08 Favotrite loads

We"re also reloading 7mm-08 with 140 gr. Nosler Ballistic tips. Were using IMR-4350 in various weights but not having any great grouping success.

Any 7-08 loaders out there with an accurate load we might try?????
Thanks

I've been shooting that exact same powder/bullet combo for several years out of my 700 CDL in 7-08. 46.0 gr. gave superb accuracy, but was a little slow. I finally settled on 48.0 gr., a load that shoots 1" at 100 yds. @ 2800 FPS very consistantly.
I tried several other powders and bullet combos, but will be using this one from now on in this gun.
You may want to change combinations to see what your particular rifle likes. They can be pretty finicky sometimes............

I tried some IMR 3031 37.5 grains with the Hornady 139 grain SP bullets so far so good: I did find my barrel like a little travel before the bullet enters the lands and grooves.I most of the time shoot 15 thou off the lands but this gun barrel in 7MM-08 has a mind of it own at 2.800 it will tack drive the 139 gainers.I tried longer C.O.A.L. and always get a few flyer's in a 5 shot string 2.860 :I seem to have a 2.875 that the single shot will close on Max:
I am going to try next year some 120 grain bullets SP more then enough for deer

I've got two 7mm-08 hunting loads. I use 145Grn Speer Hot-Cor's on top of 48.0 Grns of IMR4350 for hunting open areas and Hornady 154 Grn RN's on top of 47.5 Grn H414 for the woods. I get great accuracy with both loads.

Dark Squares are 1/2"

My Mountain Rifle likes 140 Ballistic tips and IMR 4064.....
However ,I tried some 120 grain Barnes TSX a couple of years ago I love them... I'm loading 44.0 of RL-15, but it's right up near max in my rifle.. Average MV is 3025 fps , light recoil and excellent groups..Start around 41.0 grains and work up carefully..

Claydee...My manuals ( all fairly old) list varying amounts of 4064... My Lyman manual ( copyright 1982) lists 38.0 to 43.2 grains with a 139 grain bullet... My 1992 Hodgdon manual lists 39.0 to 41.0 grains for 139-140 grain bullets... My 1989 Hornaday manual lists 36.1 to 40.1 grains with a 139 bullet..

I was loading 43.0 grains with the 140 Nosler BT...The load was max in my rifle, but was very accurate and performed great on deer..

45 grs. of Varget and 120 gr. Ballistic Tips work great in my son's 7mm-08 Ruger Hawkeye. I went to the range yesterday with it and every group (3 shots at 100 yards) was sub MOA. This is a great deer load.

As always, work up to this load.

I use 44grs. of Varget behind a 140gr. Nos. BT in a Tikka T3 Light. Super tight groups and an excellent deer banger!!
