300 win mag and 130 gr. barnes

I was wondering if anyone had any loads worked up for a 300 win mag and 130 grain barnes tsx using imr 4350

not me but i do load for the .300 win mag, most of my loads consist RL22 powder and 150 to 180 gr bullets.

not to sound nasty or anything, but why would you want to load 130 bullets in a 300 WM? I would think the 130 gr bullet is more for varmints - of course I've been wrong before. Just ask my wife. I have to go along with greg. I've never loaded my 300 with anything less than 150s and most of the time with 180s from Barnes and Sierra.

I've never loaded anything but 150's and 165's, but have read several articles on the barnes tsx 130 on big game in africa with it having great results. I guess I just like to tinker and play with different things. I reload for six different calibers and imr 4350 performs overall best in all, but I can't seem to find a load for the 130 gr. bullet. Thanks

And you are wrong again,since the 130gr tsx is a big game bullet.Although the 130gr tsx can be driven very fast,the B.C. is not good,so it isn't a great choice for longer ranges.

My apoligies stubble - I was speaking in general terms. I know Hornady makes a 130 gr bullet in .308 and a few other companies. I wasn't sure about the Barnes. I've used the 180 TSX in my 300 WM and they shot pretty good.

I re-load the .300 Win Mag extensively. All my bullets weight at least 150 grains. I've busted coyotes to over 500 yards with my 28 inch barrel Mathieu rifle.

Barnes # 4 lists it at 73.5gr startto a max of 78.5 gr for IMR 4350 . They also suggest using a factory crimp on it due to the short shank of the Barnes 130 GR TSX bullet .

I don't know what the 130gr TSX will do from the 300 mag because i don't own or load for one but i do know that it's pure deer poison from my 30.06. I use to shoot the Hornady 130gr sp in my 30.06 with good results but was looking for a better constructed bullet in that weight range and the Barnes tsx seemed to fit the bill.It took someload developement to find the right combination but once i did it proved to be very accurate in my Rem 700. I shot 2 deer with it last year one at 288yds and the other at85yds. Both fell right there and there was no bullet recovery. The bulletmade a nice wound channelso i assume it mushroomed very well. I've tested these bullets in dirt backstops, stacks of wet phone books, and several other itemsand they do indeed retain almost all of their weight, or at least they do in those items if that means anything. When i was looking for load data i emailed barnes and they were very helpful and sent me some data so you may want to do the same.Mike
