was resizing some 30-06 cases yesterday and now have a case stuck in the resizing die. when i tried to pull the ram down the casing pulled out of the shell holder and needless to say is stuck in the die. going to see if a buddy of mine has a stuck case remover. if he doesnt, going to have to send it to RCBS and see if they can get it out. first time this has ever happened in over 30 years of reloading.

cartridge cases need to be sized, if reloaded ,
with lube on the case , to prevent cases sticking in sizing dies.

Vaseline can be used, as a good cheap effective lube,
roll the case on a cloth surface, lightly and frequently coated with Vaseline
an un-inked ink pad is a great option

its just not difficult to remove a case.if you don,t own a stuck case remover kit order one they are cheap, in the mean time,

Back out the center thread stud with the ball expander and de-capper, as far as you can,drill and tap the primer pocket for a 5/16" bolt thread, find a 3/8" drive mechanic deep well socket that easily allows the brass case to slid inside but won,t allow the die to enter
deep 5/8's inch spark plug sockets usually work,
thread a bolt thats about 1/4"-to-3/8" longer than the socket, through the ratchet extension drive with several fender washers under the bolt head
into the stuck case, as you tighten the bolt threads the case is pulled out mechanically

ordered one from midway USA yesterday. by the way the case was lubed. ive been loading for over 30 years. just dont know what caused the case to stick. should have the remover by end of week.

Remove the top of the die which retains the decapping pin, use the decapping pin to drive the case out of the die. Stuck case removal kits are cheap, and well worth having, but most hardware stores will have a compatible set of tap, bit, and screw, and of course, a couple flat washers and a wrench socket.

got the stuck case out of the die yesterday. my case remover came in the mail on friday. best $14 i have spent in a while. checked the case to see what caused it to stick but couldnt see any reason it stuck. miked the neck sizer and it measured .306 to .307. guess it was just a fluke as ive used this die many times before.

Been reloading for over 55 yrs. Stuck cases happen. Reason is not enough lube for that case. It may look like enough lube but that stuck case just needed more lube.
