Default Brass for 300 RUM

Does anyone know why there is a shortage of brass for the Ultra mag. I can't seem to find anyone who has it in stock and they all reply the same.....waiting for manufacture to send us some.

Seems to be plenty here in ID at most retailers.

do yourself a favor and stick with rem, unless you can find some fed. nosler brass takes very lil prep work, but it won't last long in a high intensity cartridge like the rum. I used some nosler 270 to form 6.5 gibbs brass, the same loads I used for fireforming in the rem brass were blowing primers in the noslers. they are just too soft to handle much pressure.

I was under the impression that the Remington brass was softer that the Nosler brass that is the only reason I was going to try it.......so I figured the Nosler would last a bit longer

well, I bought into the hype to, till I spent 3 times the money what I could buy rem for, then trashed all of it by fireforming. I personaly will never buy nosler again.

I was in the same boat as you. I was looking for factory loaded federal with the barnes X bullet. But everybody was out of stock with no backorder. I ended up buying all the reloading equiment, then tried to find everything else. I even waited 2 1/2 weeks for the dies, I was ready to sell the dam gun. I called nosler about brass but the company wasn't even sure when they were going to get it in, then I called remington and they told me that they had just sent a shipment to (Sportsmen) something? I called my local dealer and he knew who I was talking about. I bought a 100 rounds but for being new brass it was pretty banged up!! Let me know if you need more help I will ask my dealer what the name was, but you have to buy through a dealer.Good luck!! P.S. do you have any good loads for the 180grain X bullet.

only load I have forbarnes in the RUM right now is 103g Reloader 25 pushing 150gr Barnes TSX
also have 200gr accubond with reloader 25 94.5g

please do not start with these loads.......drop down a few grains and build up from there. Each gun is different and yours may not handle these loads as well as mine....just a reminder
