Default Which bullet?

New to reloading and was curious as to which would be the better bullet round nose or flat nose in 350 gr Hornady?Reloading a 45/70 and it will mainly be used on deer but will be taking it on a bear hunt this spring in Idaho.Or should I get a box of both and see which just shoots better(an excuse to go shooting)

The flat nose will give more hitting powder and better wound channel
damage due to the larger frontal area compared to the round nose..
Maybe I should say more shocking pawer instead of hitting power..
I have always used the flat nose bullet in my 45-70 sharps rifle..

I use the flat nose in my guide gun and have taken 3 bear with it. The farthest one ever went after being hit was 35 - 40 yds. I just love that 'little' rifle for close range hunting.

I use the 350 gr round nose. they work great. I've shot one moose and a deer with them. The moose was about a 100 yard shoot. She only went 10 feet with two of them in her.

I load a 350 Hdy FP for a buds scoped Marlin and they do 1.5" @ 100. Haven't shot anything but paper yet...sounds like either will do fine for ya. Best of luck, Brett
