Clean and/or polish

Should you run a polishing agent in your media at all times or should run the cases through seperate media.

I have two tumblers one to clean and another to polish . one is just a rough cleaner that I use before I inspect the brass and waste time polishing something that isn't any good . When the polishing media gets to dirty I put it in the cleaner ,but only add polish to the final stage .
