im pretty sure you are asking about "boxer" primers. this means that the primers are for use in boxer primed cases. a case with a single hole for the primer blast to flow into the case. Berdan primed cases have 2 holes for the primer blast to travel thru. berdan primed case cannot be easily reloaded, whereas boxer primed cases are simple as pie
most cases in the USA are boxer primed even though the guy that designed that method was english and vice versa for Europe most are berdan primed though the guy that designed those was american.

Yes, curiously, the Boxer primer was designed by a British officer, and the Berdan type was the invention of Hiram Berdan, of the U.S. Sharpshooters of Civil War fame; and the British and other European nations always used the Berdan type primers, while most U.S. ammo is generally primed with the Boxer type!! The difference is that the Boxer primer contains it's own anvil, while in the Berdan design, the anvil is formed as part of the primer pocket, and there are two or three flash hole off-center. The Boxer primer has one central flash hole. This means the Berdan types are harder to remove from the case for reloading.
