Default Federal Tactical LE ammo (308 cal/165gr)

I was told by someone that this round, used mainly today as a sniper round to shoot through barriers (ie.glass etc) originated as a hunting round. Can anyone advise and if so, do you think that this would make a descent deer round? Thanks for the help.

asfar as I know police snipers use match ammo of various manufacture. And Match bullets arent designed for hunting big game. could you maybe be more specific on the exact load you are asking about?

Federal Tactical LE ammo (308 cal/165gr). It is used as a sniper round to shoot through barriers. It's a bonded round, unlike the Federal Gold Match Grade 168gr Boattail Hollowpoint.

Sounds to me that itis designed not to have much expansion for deer hunting.
