Sorry my bad english. I am a deer hunter from finnland. I need a good bullet for deer hunting. What is your favorit bullet? My shootingrange is about 40-100 yards and caliper .308 win. How about bullets speed? 2500 f/s, 2700 f/s or 2900 f/s. What weight you use 125, 150, 165 or 180 grain bullets? Thank you for your help.
I really like the Nosler 165gr Ballistis tip at about 2770fps from my 30-06 which the the 308 win can be loaded to that speed range I think The ballistic tip is all I use and have had great results on deer for yrs.
The 308 is also my favourite. I prefer the 150 gr bullet and also use IMR 4064 @46 grains. While I like the Noslet BT's my rifle seems to shoot the Speer Mag tip the best. They work just fine on deer and are half the cost.
I recommend a 180 grain Ballistic tip loaded in the 2500 fps range.
I hunt the thick stuff in Ontario at ranges between 25 and 150 yds (mostly less than 50 yds). I load my 30-06 with this bullet to 2470 fps and get bang/flop performance from it.
Deer dead weight here in finland is about 55-180 pounds. Average weight is about 100 pounds. There seems to be two choices: 180 grain bullet speed 2600 fps or 150 grain bullet speed 2800. Which is better. Notice short range 50 yards.
Do 150 grain Nosler BT bullets blow up in this speed 2800 fps and damage a lot of meat?
Which is better Nosler BT or Hornady SST.
