Default .300 WSM

Just bought a Savage 11 .300 WSM. I'm going to be using this gun strictly as a long-range deer gun, as well as a bigger game rifle. I load my own ammo in all my other rifles, and right now i want to keep with H4895 for the 300. I already have my .223, .30-30, and .270 with this powder. I will probably be shooting 165 grain bullets. I was wondering if anyone out there had any experience with this powder/bullet combo? I also wanted to know where everyone would sight in to effectively take shots at 350 plus yards on deer with this rifle?

I load for a couple of 300WSMs. The 165gr bullet is a good place to start, but your rifle may prefer something else. I have tried H4895 with limited success. I prefer to use slower powders that fill the case to at least 85% or more. Give it a try. If you don't get the desired accuracy and velocity try something a bit slower. My 300WSMs do very well with Ramshot Hunter and the 4350's.

I have not had a chance to load many rounds yet for my 300wsm, but at 100yds, I was getting good results on the 165gr Accubond with 65.5gr of H414, and the 180gr was working good with 67gr. of RL22.

I think you will have to go to a slower powder toget good results in any Magnum case. RE19 and H4831SC would be the place to start.

Well its not a 300 WSM, but my 325 WSM likes IMR4831 to some extent but prefers RL-19. This is the same case as the 300WSM the only difference is the neck diameter so I don't seen any reason why either of these powders won't work as well in the 300WSM.
