Default Cleaning/polishing brass

What is your method? Chemical wash or tumble? Why do you prefer your method?

I bought a chemical cleaning system from Sportsmans Warehouse today. but tumbeling doesn't seem to be to expensive but messy and time consuming.

I just use a tumbler. I just drop in the brass, and let it go for a couple hours while I am loading something else. then just pull the rubber "drain plug"from the tumbler and it leaves the clean brass in the tumbler. Works well for me. Not to mention then I don't have to deal with any kind of chemicals.

I prefer the tumbler over chemical cleaning. My concern was that the chemicals may lodge in the brass and possibly effect the powder or primer. I use a corn cob media with a touch of jewelers rouge to really shine the brass. The only negative I found with thumbing is cleaning the primer pocket of stuck media and that's not a big deal.[/align]

yeah, then you have to go back and fiddlefart around with the primer pockets, handling clean brass with oily fingers...

to take a boogerflick and pick the occasional hunk of media out isn't that big a deal...

I must have too much free time! I use a Lee cepper then size, tumble, clean primer pockets!I have excess time due to place to shoot is not convienant. The more I handle the brass the more I pay attention and look for imperfections. It's entertainment for me more than anything.

I use a vibrator cleaner. Mine is from Midway. I like it because it is easy. I have one of the buckets that you pour your brass and media into. All you need to do is take a toothpick and clean out the primer pocket's. If I want them to lookreal nice I use the Midway brass polish in the media. They come out real shiny when you use that stuff.

I do not like the tumbler's. Too noisy. Tom.

I use a Lyman's 1200 Turbo Pro auto flow with corncob media and a couple of caps of the Lyman's Turbo Brite. I just pick out any media in the primer pockets and wipe any residue off of them and they shine even better than new.

I just tumble and I leave the brass in the tumbler until I'm ready tosize them and then I have the tumbler running and I simply pick out each piece of brass as I size them. With the tumbler running, it makes the brass easy to pick out of the media as they roll to the top. I like to have clean brass to run through my dies.
