Default norinko 7.62X39 steel bullets

Greetings, I noticed in my ammo supply a few boxes of loaded 762x39 norinko brand copper washed steel bullet ammunition. This stuff is new in the box, and I`m wondering what it is worth. I understand that they no longer make steel bullets. I once heard them referred to as armor piercing, but you couldn`t proove it by me................Thanks.

I have a couple hundred rounds of the same stuff. some people think its armor piercing so in some cases the stuff will bring a nice price tag. I personally dont think these have any real AP capabilities a soft point 308 will penetrate further than these will. The only reason they were made with steel cores was the cost of manufacture steel core ammo tended to be cheap to make thats why most of your commy countries made steel bullets. about all these are good for are starting fires in dry climates. but asfar as what their worth ive seen them going for anywhere from $10 to $20 per 20 rounds. I personally am waiting for someone to come along and give a dollar a shot for all 400 of them. with that I could go and buy 3 cases of some newer production stuff like golden tiger or hot shot and have some good plinkin ammo on hand.

During wartime when copper and other metals are scarce, many countries have used steel for bullet jacket material and also for cartridge cases.

Mild steel bullet jackets won't harm the bore, and mild steel is also OK for cases, if they can be kept from rusting. Plating or a lacquer finish helpds in this regard. However, those bullets are NOT AP. There may be some 7.62X39mm AP ammo, but personally I would not waste a tungsten core in that caliber of ammo.

During WWII, a lot of .45 ACP ammo was made in USA with steel jackets. Currently, some of the WOLF brand ammo made in Russia has steel cases, just like the Russian government uses for their military ammo. It is quite satisfactory for battlefield use.

If im not mistaken -I believe you will find in was clintoon who banned the import of ALL chinese firearms& ammo( steel core or not)in 94( i hear he didnt get enough in bribes from the chicom firearm/ammo factorys& those they represented to continue a relationship)

What bush sr( in 89) & clintoon( in 94( along with the brady bill in 94?) added to& banned where various firearms from import -claiming they where assult type firearms etc - under the federal firearms act ( the assult weapons ban?) Two diffent laws i think in this case here .

But i could be mistaken in some of the details involved(as my memory seems to get worse everyday)

But i do remember the last case of steel core chinese i bought( brand china jing an equipment imp/exp corp) as i still have half a case of that & the chinese sks,s& chinese toc pistols i bought before clintoon banned there import into this country.

Offically of course he gave other reasons for these actions...

And obviously the current adminastration continuese to have the same import ban in effect on chinese firearms& ammo itself- that clintoon started in 94- for whatever there reasons are.

Oh they still make it( and so do others)i dont have much doubt- it just cant be imported in from china.
And i do remember reading at the time of its ban- billions of rounds ammo& firearms sitting on ships in california etc- waiting to be unloaded- and rumors coming from the white house etc &that it was steelap ammo & a pistol type weapon was being designed to fire said ammo& said ammo would shoot threw all vests etc*& where like( but worse)the othercop killer bullets out there that they(clintoon& cronies)where trying to ban to save America from itself.

Now the S korean 30.06 steel core bullets& brass cased -cases of ammo i got not to long ago & made & packed for the M1- dosnt fit in my savage 30.06 for do/do-( they must not be following sammi? civilian specs at there korean factory)- i still have to figure out to do with all that.

But if anyone wants to buy half a case of steel core chinese( or korean even ) for $10 per 20 or a dollar a round even id be glad to sell im mine too

I also was talkin to a friend of mine that just come back from the sand box and during our conversation I had asked about what kind of ammo they were finding among the insurgents and he told me it was mostly chicom and some russian stuff.

So i have to ask- what does that have to do with whats being said here?

Till The day they sell( what we are legally allowed to own of course)Ar,s, ak,s akms( and m 14 copys)-sks,s & ammo etc etcincluding made in both china& russia at every local walmart in this country is the day i will think some progress is being made in this country.

But of course that isnt going to happen- mostwalmarts havegotten rid of there pistols sales( if they ever had any)& others just stoped selling firearms period.(all in the marketing plans i guess)

"They" would rather we ( buy)play badmitten& lawn bowling & horseshoes etc& buy frizbees for our dog i think instead .

You dont even have to be excourted out of store yet by employes after buying flamable liquids, lighters knifes sets, hammers or horseshoes etc

I bet a horseshoe could do some real damage traveling at 50+ miles per hour.
