I have been interested in the thought of reloading.I only have one caliber to reload and that is the .308win. To test the waters and see if reloading is something that I wanted to do and continue, I purchased the Lee classic Loader. I had to purchase it in one caliber only. It looks like some kind of handheld loader kit. It saids contains everything to load this particular caliber. Will this give me an idea of what reloading is like and give me enough control over my loading to enhance my accuracy? I just don't know because you don't use a table press. Thanks for your help.

As far as producing accurate ammo goes, theres no disadvantage to using hand tools. Alot of bench rest shooters use hand tools because they are not subject to getting out of alignment like a press might. A press just speeds things up. I'm not real familiar with the Lee loader, does it full length size the brass or just neck size? If it only neck sizes you will get to a point pretty soon where your ammo wont chamber easily, or not at all. You can make ammo just as good with hand tools as you can with a press though. Just not as fast.
Yes the Lee Loader is a neck sizer only. Is the reason that it will become hard to chamber because of the case lengthening from firing? If that is so, couldn't I just get a case trimmer and cut it back and continue using for some more time? I don't know the answer, just wondering. Thanks

Whitey, the body of the case will expand to a point after a few firings that will make it hard to chamber. At that point you will need to full length size it. That will happen before the neck stretches to the point of hitting the end of the chamber.
