It was introduced by Remington in the XP-100. mainly to be used for steel Handgun silhouettes. Its based on a shortened and necked dow 308 case. In the Contender and XP it will develope about 2300 fps with a 140 grain bullet. I think Remington still makes new brass for them. I had one for a short time when I shot steel targets.

Does it have a place in the huntin world?
Also, is there any factory ammo available for it?

The BR line makes great hunting rifles, they were developed for BR competition, and I don't think loaded ammo is available for it. you can make brass from the 308 but, you must rework the load, all BR cases come with a small primer pocket, and 308 takes a Large Rifle primer.
