Default trouble AR loads

Just started loading for myar and having a little trouble.I can't get the AR to eject the cases. It spits out factory50gr rems like a bad taste .The loads I worked upare 50gr sierra blitz k and 50 gr nosler ballistic tip.Useing IMR 4198from 21.3 to 21.9, primers are cci 400 small rifle with a OAL of 2.210. Thegroupingof the Noslers@ 21.9 gr I'm extremely happy with. Just can't seem to get it to throw the cases. Any ideas? My first thought was that the rounds were'nt hot enough. Till I hit the 21.9. Thanks guys

IMR4198 probably isnt producing enough gas pressure at the appropriate time as the bullet passes the gas vent in the gas block. For gas operated guns I personally use and recommend IMR4895 or IMR3031 another few good ones for gas operated guns are H4895 and Varget.

yep you need aslower powder try H335, the 4198 peaks before the bullet goes by the gas port.

Maybe off subject on ejecting but....which dies are you useing? RCBS has 2 versions for the 223! I found out when I was buying some myself, make sure you get the small base set for AR's or Mini14's! I am adjusting mine to work with mods.,you have to skim about 2-3 thousandths off the shell holder and adjust the sizer. On another point check the size of the button on the decapper, mine was not round and it mic'd .223 and up to .223 1/2.I honed it to consistant .222.That should help keep non canalured bullets in place without crimp!

unless your chamber is cut on the bare minimum of saami specs your just increasing headspace with small base dies, headspace means poor brass life!

Ridge Runner is absolutely correct. Shoving the brass further into the die will only cause the shoulder to be set back further, increasing the headspace. Excessive case stretching = short case life.

Thats what my dad was saying about the s/b dies...overworking the brass. The mods we did doesn't effect the neck just gets the die down closer to the webbing of the primer pocket where the ar needs the room, after what we did the formed brass comes out to the same spec as new winchester brass, they mic out at under .375.If the area above webbing is .376-.377 they will cycle under firing conditions but if you have to eject them by hand they may stick if chamber is new or tight.Sure would suck a big one to pull the head of a case that way!
