Default rough barrel?

I just got a new 7mm Rem mag(M70026" bbl)and started working up loads for it. I worked up to 67.5grs of R-22 overa Nosler Accubond that makes about 3180fps in my other 26" M700. I took the new one to the range and it chrono'd an avg of only 3060 w/ this load. The barrel also seems to be a bit rough when I run patches through it. I've heard rough barrelscan speed up after they are shot a bit and smoothed out. Any experience with this or should I just work up a different load. Thanks for your input, Brett

well they're all different, some rifles vary 200 fps with the same loads, due to different bore dia. and chamber size. if the accuracy is there, you may tweak it a bit to get what ya can from it, but you may hit hi-pressure before you get the same velocityas the other 7 RM. At 3180 I'm assuming its a 140 accubond.
You may go to a slower powder in that longer barrel and see if that helps, but the slower than RE22 usually do best with bullets 160 gr and up. You could convert the 26" er over to STW that'll make it hop

I'd be more interested in accuracy than 120 fps. If she shoots good, you got a winner.

Yeah, it shoots good, but I don't see it as a winner. I get 3125fps out of my 24" M70 in 30-06 w/ 54grs of IMR4064 and 150 gr Interbonds. I use 13.5 more grains of powder to get 65fps less w/ a longer barrel and lighter bullet.

Give it some time and let that barrel smooth out a bit. If you are in a hurry, order a box of Tubbs Final Finish and load them up and smooth the bore out! It works VERY well.

ya might back down the charge a bit and ease the bullet closer to the rifleing, this will raise pressure and velocity
