Default Coyote bullets for .243 ?

Just bought a .243 win and want to do a bit of coyote hunting this winter with it. What do you think is a good bullet weight for a .243 win and coyotes? Some will be shot in front of hounds and some called in.

Question is whether or not you want to minimiz pelt damage or simply bang-flop. If pelts aren't an issue just about anything at 243 velocities will drop a coyote. If pelts are a concern look at Sierra's

I would think the 60gr Varminter would have as little penetration as anything else out there. Nosler makes a 55gr ballistic tip as well. Seeing that my 55grain BT out of my 22-250 don't exit I don't know how a 55gr BT with a lower SD would/could.

My favorite, where I'm just exterminating them and not overly concerned about exit hole, is the 70 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip. The 55 gr. Ballistic Tip shoots a little flatter but seems a bit more fickle - at least in the three rifles I have used with this bullet. For minimum damage to pelts, you might consider the Barnes X bullet. It will always exit, and leave a finger size hole - unless you hit big bone, of course.

I use Hornady 75gr HPs with great success on yotes, with very minimal pelt damage, if any.

I have some 60gr Sierra HPs I'm going to load up for something new to try. Will have results in a week or so.

I currently use the Barnes 75 gr X bullet at 3400 fps ,at least I will untilI run out of them . They are out of production ,thenI will switch to the 85 gr X . I have very little damage even after hitting bone with them .

I would shoot 55 grain Nosler ballistic Tips (if your rifle likes them) i load mine to around 3900 fps but I like the 70 grain BT's also.

The 70 gr Sierra Blitzkingswork great. The 55 gr Blitzkings work just as well and run right under 4K fps so they shoot really flat out to 300 yds. I just bought a boxof the 85 gr TSX but they are too expensive to waste on 'yotes LOL.

I got some of these recently and they shoot real well out of my 6MM-284. Any feel for how they expand on game compared to the Nosler Ballistic Tips?
