Default newbie needs loads for 308

I'm just starting to reload and need suggestions for loads. I have a Tikka T-3, .308 Winchester. I want to try 165gr Sierra game kings. Does anyone have a good load for the 165gr bullet and my 22 1/2" barrel. I don't have powder or primers yet.

Try handloads.com and reloadersnest.com. Its an awefully popular round and is often handloaded for so there ought to be a ton of recipes out there. I know some of the guys on a tactical forum speak highly of IMR 4895 for a powder. Might check that site out as well snipercentral.com. First-rate bunch other there and I learned ALOT about ballistics in general when I first got into the world of guns.

I suggest trying 43gr-45gr of Varget with 165gr gameking. I have tried this load in many 308's, and its very consistent. Varget can leave alot of carbon so you might try 4064 also. About the same load.
