Default 30-06

I was wounding if anybody knows or done test , on using the RL22 powder with a 165 GR SP HORNADY. I was wounder how much GR. of powder to use. My Hornady book does not have any info.

According to "Alliant Powder Reloaders Guide" 2005 Edition:

.30.06 Sprg.
Nosler 165 gr. Part.
RL-22 MAX. 60 grs.
Vel: 2,755 f/s

.30.06 Sprg.
Speer 165 gr. Spitz.
RL-22 MAX. 62 grs.
Vel: 2824 f/s

START 10 % BELOW MAX.

My experience has been that RL22 may be a little to slow for the 30/06 - at least with bullet weights under 200 grains. For best accuracy, IMR 4350 would be my first choice for a 165 gr bullet.

Thats exactly what I use........I can get good groups varying the powder charge up and down almost 2 grains. I dunno why but my '06 loves IMR 4350.

Thanks for all the input I will give the IMR 435 a try. I like the RL22 for my 7mm so I thought I wouldtry in in my in my 30-06.

IMR-4350 is good but H-414 ois also a fine alternative to RL22

I would also vote for 4350 but a freind had real great success with realoader 19 in his .30-06 for a 165 grain barnes tsx

Thanks for all the help. I went with the IMR4350 it work great. We was shooting 4"circle at 200 yard.
